What is the DIMES study about?
Short Title: Delays in Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland
The DIMES study is a Service Evaluation and Clinical Audit Study. It is a multi-centre retrospective study of multiple sclerosis diagnosis pathways in the United Kingdom to identify key delays, the factors underlying these delays and early post-diagnosis care.
Primary Objectives ● To quantify the time taken from referral for suspected MS to diagnosis in the UK and ROI. ● To ascertain the diagnostic journey of pwMS in the UK and ROI, including quantifying the key points of delay. This includes evaluating the number of neurology appointments, MRI scans, lumbar punctures, and any other investigations during the diagnostic pathway, and quantifying the delays associated with these investigations.
